Company History

Blazing Saddles is proud to have been an integral part of the San Francisco community for over thirty years. Although the company has gone through many changes over the years, the owners Jeff and Helena Sears continue to be involved in the day-to-day operations of the business! 

1982

Jeff and Helena meet and start a small pedicab business in Fisherman's Wharf.

1986

American Scooter and Cycle rental opens at 2715 Hyde Street, renting Motorcycles, Scooters and Bicycles.

1998

Haas family donates $10 million to transform the Presidio, including new bike trails! Cycling explodes in San Francisco.

1998

A major transformation of Presidio begins when military withdraws and National Park Service takes over. A new multi-use path including a tidal marsh, grassy meadows and picnic areas and making the area inviting for recreational activities.

2001

‘Bike The Bridge’ opens at Pier 43 in Fisherman's Wharf.

Bike The Bridge purchases Blazing Saddles Bike Rentals assets including locations at Pier 41 and Columbus Avenue.

Blazing Saddles opens a location in New York City after the Greenway bike path is established.

2014

Blazing Saddles expands to seven locations in San Francisco and opens on Governors Island in New York.

Blazing Saddles offers speciality guided tours throughout Wine Country and Half Moon Bay.

Blazing Saddles survives the pandemic and comes back stronger than ever!
