Used Bikes for Sale - San Francisco

Posted on 02/15/2017

We offer a variety of used bikes for sale – everything from comfort hybrid bikes to kids’ equipment, tandems, and high-end bikes. We also have electric bikes, and we offer both new and used electric bikes for sale. These are a great option if you want a little boost for San Francisco’s famous hills!

With so many bikes for sale, the options can get a little overwhelming. That’s why we put together a comprehensive guide to help you pick the perfect wheels. This post focuses on our regular-pedaling used bikes for sale – be on the lookout for an upcoming guide on electric bikes for sale!

  • How do you wanna roll?

We offer a variety of used bikes for sale, ranging from comfort hybrid bikes to high-end road and mountain bikes. Think about the kind of riding you’ll be doing to help you determine what type of bicycle is best for you.

Hybrid bikes are perfect for biking around town, and you’ll find no better companion for casual rides and errands, including a commute to work or a trip to the grocery store. Our used bikes already come with a rear rack, so you can easily bring along bags and other cargo. If you’ll be bringing the little ones along, of course our kids’ equipment and tandem bikes are a great idea. With options ranging from kids’ bikes to tag-a-long and baby seats, we’ve got used bikes for everyone in the family!

If you want more challenging rides in the bay area, definitely consider our high-performance road and mountain bike offerings. Golden Gate Park and McLaren Park both offer great mountain biking within San Francisco’s city limits, and just across the Golden Gate Bridge you’ll find the birthplace of mountain biking in Marin County. The bay area also offers incredible road biking routes – don’t you deserve a road bike that’s as incredible as the views?

  • Give it a spin!

No matter how awesome your bicycle is, it won’t be comfortable if it doesn’t fit you right. You should be able to easily reach the handlebars and comfortably stand over the bike, and you shouldn’t feel to ‘scrunched up’ when you ride. Luckily, our bike rental experts are very experienced in helping riders get a great fit, and we’re happy to help customers who want to purchase our used bikes!

We also have everyone test ride their bikes, so you’ll get to take your new wheels for a spin to make sure everything is comfortable before you ride off into the sunset. We’re also proud to offer a 7-day exchange for our regular pedal bikes. If you don’t love your used bike for any reason, just bring it back to us within 7 days and you can exchange it for another.

  • Care for your ride

You gotta love your bike if you want it to love you back! Keep your tires inflated and your chain lubricated, and do the ABC Quick Check before every ride. If you’re not sure about these important safety checks, try a local sporting goods store or community bike shop – many offer maintenance classes for a variety of skill levels and budgets.

It’s a good idea to get regular professional tune-ups, too. The frequency for these depends on how often you’re using your bike, but usually every 6 months is about right. When you buy a used bike from Blazing Saddles, we offer your first tune-up for free! Beyond that, there are tons of full-service bike shops in San Francisco, so get friendly with your LBS (local bike shop).

  • Don’t forget to accessorize!

In addition to your bike, you'll want some accessories to get the most out of your new wheels. California state law requires helmets for anyone under 18, and we think they’re a good idea for everyone. If you ever plan to leave your bike unattended, you’ll also want a good quality bike lock and the knowledge on how to secure your bike properly - check out these locking tips for some guidance. If you’ll be riding in the early morning or after dark, you’ll also need to get lights. Check with your LBS for these accessories and more.

Happy trails!
